Mountain Home Athletic Club supports you in building a new, healthy lifestyle! Diet Alone does not work! Your metabolic rate will slow down if the body perceives a low blood sugar situation. It will then preferentially burn muscle over fat as fuel which will further cause your metabolic rate to slow. If the body perceives it is starving, then it will burn off muscle through a process known as gluconeogenesis in order to conserve calories. Once an individual begins to eat more again, the body will store more calories consumed as fat. Move your Body to Get Results! Resistance training should be combined with aerobic exercise to maintain or increase your metabolic rate; muscle makes large metabolic demands on the body. You should get at least 6 hours of physical activity per week. |
